Abram Van Lenten

Abram “Abe” Van Lenten, 88, of Bradenton, FL passed away October 20, 2016. Abram was born in Patterson, N.J. to the late; Abraham and Adrianna Quadland Van Lenten. He served our country during WWII in the US NAVY. After the war Abe began his lifelong career as a machinist and fell in love with Beatrice Sluisman. They married in 1954. Abe had a successful career with such companies as New Era and World Wide Industries, of Allendale, NJ. The day after retiring, the moving van was loaded and they were off to Florida. Abe enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was an active volunteer at their church, First Church of the Nazarene, in Bradenton. He served as usher, kitchen volunteer and performed with the Living Christmas Tree program. Abram was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed. Abram Van Lenten is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Beatrice Van Lenten, son, Don (Debbie Poppe) Van Lenten, daughters; Lois Nichols, Judy Sanderson, grandchildren, Megan, Bethany, Amy, Michael and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 10:30 am at First Church of the Nazarene, 1616 59th St. W, Bradenton, FL 34209. Mr. Van Lenten will be laid to rest on hallowed ground of Sarasota National Cemetery, with a private family ceremony with Navy Honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Van Lenten’s name may be made to Bradenton Hospice House, division of Tidewell Hospice, 2504 34th Ave West, Bradenton, FL 34205.
