Harlan Roger Wicks, age 82, of Palmetto, Florida entered into rest on Monday, June 4, 2018. He was born on December 17, 1935 in Canby, MN. Son of Harold and Verna (Ness) Wicks. He graduated from Canby High School in 1953. Harlan was united in marriage to Barbara Hersom at Florida Lutheran Church near Canby. Harlan served in the Army 34th Armored Division from 1960-1964 with an honorable discharge. He was stationed in Ft. Hood, TX and Fort Sill, OK as a tank driver. Harlan worked for Shrunk Implement, Alice Chalmers, Grong Construction as a carpenter spot welder in Phoenix, AZ. After marriage moved to Blain, MN and worked at Thermo King Salkin and Linoff and Majectis Oaks Golf Course. He built their lake home on Lake Minnewawa near McGregor, MN. He lived in Blaine until retirement then moved to the lake home. After spending 5 winters with Kevin and family, he moved to Palmetto, FL. Harlan and Barb were married for 55 years and blessed with two daughters and one son, five grandchildren, one great grandchild. Harlan passed away June 4, 2018 at age of 82. He is survived by his wife; Barbara, Children; Kimberly (Perry) Brown of Oak Grove, MN., Kevin (Wende) Wicks of Palmetto, FL. He was preceded in death by his daughter; Sandra, parents & brother. Harlan enjoyed his family, friends, playing golf, cards, puzzles and the casino. A memorial service will be held 10 AM, June 30, 2018 from the Glass Chapel of Skyway Memorial Funeral Home 5200 US Highway 19 N, Palmetto, FL.
