Joseph Steiner, 86, of Bradenton, Florida passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in Bradenton, with his oldest son at his side. Joe was born in Budapest, Hungary, on February 16, 1931, to István and Ida (Csopják) Steiner. Joe married Astrid Margaret “Marge” (Strai) Steiner on October 14 in Monaco, and they enjoyed 47 years together until her passing. Joe is survived by his older brother, three children, and six grandchildren. Joe attended the College of Foreign Languages in Budapest, and served as an officer in the Hungarian army before working as a professional translator. In 1956, he escaped from communism and was granted asylum in the United States. He attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and became a radio missionary with Trans World Radio. In this capacity, he produced Hungarian language programs about the Bible for over 50 years, working right up till the day he was hospitalized. The burial will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10:00 am at Skyway Memorial Gardens, 5200 US Hwy 19, Palmetto, Florida (SkywayMemorial.com).
