Mary Jane “MJ” Rice, 79, passed away May 22, 2014. She was born August 29, 1934 in New Enterprise, Pennsylvania to the late George and Alma (Baker) Hershburger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-son Read Obituary
Our hearts go out to you Bob and your families. MJ had so much energy and determination. Her presence was missed at Glen Lakes when you moved. But her memory lived on.
And hopefully all your wonderful memories will help ease your sorrow.

MJ had so many talents and wonderful attributes. Her legacy will be tracked from Pennsylvania to Florida. Whatever she attempted, she committed to doing her best and making a difference. In our little community, she organized the lady golfers into a viable and lasting association; she was a leader in community theater; and she was an advocate for involvement in church, family, activity. She was a wonderful friend and will be missed by many.

I MET MJ AT STAGE WEST WHEN I FIRST ARRIVED IN FLORIDA, I ONLY DID ONE PLAY WITH HER AND THAT WAS "ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCCOO'S NEST, WHERE SHE DID A GREAT JOB AS NURSE RATCHETT.

M J and I shared our love for the stage, enjoyed our dinners together and participated in Stage West productions. My happiest moment was presenting the Founder's Award to a very qualified woman. I met MJ at Stage West. She was one that gave me a job when I really needed one. She saw promise in me and became one of my strongest mentors. Thanks to MJ, I continued my education and achieved my dream of becoming a teacher. I believe this wonderful woman touched many lives in a positive way...God put her on this earth to be a blessing to many...and I am one! Until we meet again, MJ!
Dear Bob, it is with great saddens that we learned of Mary Jane's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I will always remember her smile and the fun we had playing with the FROGS. Peace be with you in this time of sadness.
