Alexander Vincent Petrakopoulos' Obituary
Alexander Vincent Petrakopoulos, 28, of Bradenton, FL passed away on May 29, 2023 as a result of an accident in the Gulf of Mexico. Alexander was born on January 25, 1995 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He was the son of Christiane Meli Petrakopoulos and Nikitas Leonidas Petrakopoulos. The family moved to Florida in 2000 and he graduated from Manatee High School in 2014. Alexander attended St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church of Sarasota and danced with the Hellenic Dancers for 8 years. He also attended St. Peter and Paul church participating in youth groups and retreats with school friends. Alexander was a member of the Boy Scouts of America troop 102 and ranked to 1st class leadership where he earned merit badges in flight, fishing, forestry, firefighting, first aid and engineering. Later, in life Alexander would use this knowledge and was a fulltime angler and grouper fisherman. Alexander was also talented in music; and taught the guitar to his friends, but his greatest joy was helping people, being with family and being surrounded by God’s beauty in nature. Alexander is survived by his loving parents; sister Andreea and niece Elena. He is also survived by stepsisters: Anja Petrakopoulos, and nephews Jonas and Hugo, and Iris Petrakopoulos and nephew Zachary. Alexander is also survived by his Uncle Frank Meli and children Alexis, Adrian, and Marissa; Aunt Vynnie Meli and children Kylie and Quinn; and Aunt Lisa Joy and children Jessen and Selena; and a host of other family and friends. Alexander has joined his beloved grandparents Vincent and Lois Meli in Heaven. A memorial service will be Friday June 9, 2023 at 2pm at Skyway Memorial Gardens 5200 US Highway 19 Palmetto, FL 34221.
