Alfred T Truitt's Obituary
Alfred T. Truitt, 78, of Palmetto, passed away surrounded by his loving wife and daughter on Monday, May 6, 2024. Born on December 12, 1945, in Bradenton, FL, he was the son of the late Olin and Edith (Townsend) Truitt. Alfred was a member of the first graduating class of SE High School, excelling at basketball and track known as “barefoot miler”. He proudly served in the US Army during Vietnam. After his enlistment, he obtained four degrees at the University of South Florida. He retired as supervisor after thirty-six years in the Juvenile Justice System. He stayed physically active running ten miles a day up until just a year ago. He continued his love of basketball and football and was an avid fan of the Buccaneers'.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melanie Carey, and his favorite nephew, Scott Benge.
He will be remembered and missed by his wife of forty-six years, Kathryn (Kilpatrick) Truitt; his son, Ron Helm; his daughter, Brandi Urban; his grandchildren, Lillian, Katie, Cullen, Emily, Ava, Kyley and Makiyah.
Family and friends will gather Monday May 13, 2024, at 11am for a graveside service at Skyway Memorial Gardens that will include military honors.
