WOW!
I knew that Algenia would live a Long Time!
(Never thought she would ever leave us)
Hi, Leslie:
This is Rubin from 1417 Prospect Place (the brother of Annette and Charlie and them).
I did not know if Algenia had other female friends (other than You; Tracy and Suzie)
You and Algenia were Definitely close!
When one saw Algenia . . . There was always Hope.
You and Algenia were some of my favorite people in the neighborhood
Though I didn't “hang” with you all, I was always treated with kindness and respect!
You are correct. We knew her parents. Her mom was always nice to our family giving us nice expensive looking items as it was seven of us!
LOL!
Algenia’s name was a clever play on her parents’ names: Alvin and Virginia.
Algenia did not know much about other family members but I understand there was a family-tree connection to the District of Columbia in Washington.
She once told me that since she was born in a house she did not have a birth certificate!
I had a mad crush on Algenia and through the years always wondered what happened to her.
She had a few boyfriends at different times. Tony R. (who also passed) was one of them.
Then later and more seriously she was seeing James M.
Algenia and I worked together (for a time) at the Brooklyn Public Library branch on Eastern Parkway & Schenectady Avenue. She then left the library to work at the-then new McDonalds restaurant down the street by Utica Avenue. At the library She was a quiet and diligent worker. Serious mostly but always crack up when security guard, Mr. Pony would come around her work station and make her laugh heartedly.
Yes!
Algenia was a real looker; very attractive! Her photos did NOT do her justice . . . These sort of hid her beauty as she looked much Better in person!
(I saw the photos she took from a Debutante event)
Algenia was not a tomboy but was great at playing street games like handball and punch ball!
She especially excelled at Punch ball! She was one of the few girls who could HIT those High Balls with no problem. She was a very good catcher as well!
She was a good fighter! She would “Box” with the fellas; like “play” with them But they wanted NO parts of her especially when she would wear those heavy *** jingly silver bracelets on her wrist!
So In closing, All of us will miss Ms. Algenia Hunter.
She brought a lot to the table.
Leslie I want to THANK YOU expressively for writing your own personal tribute to Algenia.
I probably would Not have come across the news of her sad passing.
Sending Much Love to Your Family and Algenia’s!!!
