Alice Martha Meissner's Obituary
Alice Martha Meissner, 87, of Atlanta, GA and formerly a 53 year resident of Bradenton, FL., died peacefully in her sleep on July 21, 2013. A Memorial Celebration of her life will be held at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home located at 720 Manatee Avenue West on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 11 AM. Interment will follow the service at Skyway Memorial Gardens. Alice was born June 30, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. She was a cadet nurse during WWII, stationed at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn. After the war she graduated with a BS degree in nursing from Adelphi College in Garden City, NY and worked as a public health nurse in New York City until she got married. Alice and her family moved to Bradenton in 1959 and spent 53 years here before moving to Atlanta late last year. She was a real estate broker since 1971 and was a partner in Meissner Real Estate until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of Tara Golf and Country Club and Past President of Delta Theta chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority. She was also an avid Bridge player. She was predeceased by her husband Charles and by 2 sons and a sister. She is survived by a son, Chris (Cindy) of Bradenton and a daughter Melissa (Bill) Gouinlock of Atlanta. Also survived by daughter-in-laws Debbie Meissner of Bradenton and Joann Meissner of Boynton Beach and by 4 grandchildren: Alex Meissner and Connor, Erik and Freya Gouinlock. Also survived by her sister, Irene Harshbarger; nieces and nephews Susan and Don Harshbarger; Janice, Janessa and Chris Calandrino, all of Long Island, NY.
