Alicia Alvarez's Obituary
ALVAREZ, ALICIA SARA SOTO RODRIGUEZ
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother passed away on October 20, 2024. She was born in Santiago, Chile on December 18, 1928 to Arturo and Serafina Soto. In 1953 she married Martin Alvarez with whom she celebrated seventy-one years of marriage. Two sons were born to Martin and Alicia in Chile before they moved to Puerto Rico for Martin’s work. Two daughters were born in Puerto Rico. In 1972 the family moved to Florida. They lived in various states before retiring to Bradenton, Florida.
Alicia was a mother and housewife. Family was very important to her, she liked having family around and loved gatherings where she enjoyed preparing amazing meals and desserts.
She was an expert seamstress and needleworker. She made clothing and costumes, and
created beautiful works in embroidery, knitting, beadwork and cross-stitch.
She is survived by her husband and their four children - Martin (Michele) Alvarez,
Ricardo (Mary) Alvarez, Patricia (Gordon) Fry and Alicia Y. (Carl Charbonneau) Alvarez.
She was a grandmother of fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five
great-great grandchildren.
On Monday, November 25, at 11:00 a.m. family and friends will gather at Skyway Memorial
Gardens, 5200 US-19, Palmetto, Florida for Alicia’s Placement Ceremony. At 1:00 p.m. the family will host a Celebration of Life at Waters Edge of Bradenton in the Town Center, 2015 32nd Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida.
