Arlene Annette Guice's Obituary
Arlene Annette Amick Guice, 62, of Parrish, Florida passed away on November 24th, 2020 at her home surrounded by loving family and friends.
The Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 1st at First Baptist Church (FBC) located at 1020 4th Street W #5003 Palmetto, FL 34221.
The family will be greeting friends and relatives at 6:00 pm.
Arlene was born on December 16th, 1957 in Oak Hill, West Virginia to Wallace and Janet Marshall Amick.
Arlene grew up in both Maryland and West Virginia. She graduated from High School in Maryland in 1975.
After high school, she attended Manatee Community College in Bradenton, FL where she received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. She later went back to MCC (State College of Florida) and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 2014.
She began work for the Manatee Memorial Healthcare System as an Oncology Nurse then later transferred to Labor and Delivery, where she worked for 35 years. She received two nominations for Nurse of the Year. Arlene retired from Lakewood Ranch Medical Center as a Charge Nurse in Labor and Delivery in September of 2020.
Arlene married William (Bill) T. Guice Jr. in 1974 in Maryland. They were happily married for 46 years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, boating and the beach. A favorite of hers was cruising the islands.
Arlene was a member of Woodland Community Church in Bradenton, FL and enjoyed singing in the choir. A bible verse that she lived by was 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love Never Fails.”
Arlene was a dedicated Wife, Mother and Nana first and foremost. She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana.
Arlene was preceded in death by her Father, Wallace Amick.
Arlene is survived by her Mother, Janet Marshall Amick. Loving and devoted wife of William (Bill) T. Guice Jr. Adored Mother of David Guice, Steven Guice, Jonathan (Alexa) Guice and Jessica (Nathan) Pullen Guice. Sweet Nana of Jaiden Guice-Hawkins, Devon Guice, Cami Guice and Remi Guice. Dear Sister of Wallace Amick, Timothy (Janene) Amick and Marlene LaMonica.
Memorial donations may be made to Humane Society of Manatee County.
