Boniface "Ed" Lewandrowski's Obituary
Boniface “Ed” Lewandrowski, 80, of Palmetto, FL passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Freedom Village in Bradenton after a few months of failing health. Born October 3rd, he was one of seven children of the late Boniface and Luella (Obnowski) Lewandrowski. After graduating high school in Rome, New York, Ed proudly served as a member of the US Army. Following his time in the military, Ed worked several jobs, with his longest tenure as a dispatcher at Mohawk Data Sciences (MDS) in Herkimer, New York (his birthplace). Ed was interested and active in many activities, such as golf, bowling, swimming, diving, polka dancing, Blackjack and Pitch, horse-racing, fishing, ping-pong, billiards, weightlifting, snowmobiling, ice-skating, bicycling, football, basketball, hockey and baseball. He served as President of the Schuyler Little League, spending quality time with his boys teaching fair play, sportsmanlike conduct, self-discipline, team work, and accurate throwing. He retired to sunny Florida in 2000 to be close to his family.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses, Genny (Gene), Stanley (Virginia), Stella (Pete), Lee (Walt), and Helen, plus a childhood brother, Edward.
He will be remembered and missed by his wife of 56 years, Sharon (Hughes) Lewandrowski; his older son, Ed (Natalie) Lewandrowski and their children, John, Cris, Damien, Keith and Amanda, plus his younger son Greg (Courtney) Lewandrowski and their children, Paige, and Payton. In addition, he had 8 great grandchildren, and 14 nieces and nephews.
Private family services were entrusted to Skyway Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens. Family is requesting donations be made in his memory to the North Long Term Health Care Hospice Team.
