She was the eleventh of the thirteen children in her family. Carrie was preceded in death by her children May Lois Blue and husband Jimmy, Nathaniel Sanders Jr., and Daisy Brown. Carrie moved to Florida in 1950, where she met Nathaniel Sanders and they had seven children. Carrie loved the Lord, was baptized very early in life as a youth. She came to love the Lord and served him until her passing. Her Christian life was simple, share her relationship with God to others, to help them, come to know God. She served as a Deaconess, first at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, Bradenton, Florida for eleven years, and at St. Mary Missionary Baptist church for twenty-five years. She sang in the senior choir and served on the senior mission team. She enjoyed going to nursing homes visiting the sick, lifting their spirits, and bringing them cheer. Carrie loved her family. She was a wonderful mother, Grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother. She really enjoyed going to their graduations and thoroughly enjoyed the celebrations that followed. When someone had a birthday celebration, she would always do her best to be there to give good sound advice. She looked forward to the annual family reunions and telling stories of how her life was growing up. She was a true Matriarch of the family. Carrie was employed at Tropicana for ten years, working in the glass plant, and only missing two days of sickness. She was employed at Manatee Junior College as a custodian for twenty-five years, where she was dutiful, reliable and well respected.
