I just got the obituary from a friend who knew Charles as well as I did. Charles was a neighbor of mine in Leola, PA. I got fired from my job with the Girl Scouts, and I asked Charles in November if I could be a seasonal employee at Lenox in Lancaster. He was the manager of the outlet, which was a lovely, high-class outlet. He took me on and I stayed there even when I got another full-time job. But we remained friends, and he was instrumental in my purchasing far too much Lenox!! He eventually broke up with his long-time partner, and moved away from my street. We lost contact, although he was still working several places after Lenox. I believe he always loved Lenox, as the second-hand place I still go to carries a lot of estate goods, among them tons of Lenox. Very tempted to buy it all-- thanks a lot, Charles!!
He was a sweetie, a lovely man, a good boss, and a lot of fun to be around. I really missed him when he left the neighborhood, and Lenox, where I still went visiting, until Lenox closed it last year. Charles was a wonderful guy, and great to work for. I hope he had a fabulous life in Florida-- he so deserved it. I am very sorry he is gone.
