Charles Alfred Churchill's Obituary
Charles Alfred Churchill “Chip”, passed away peacefully at his residence in Freedom Plaza, Sun City Center, Florida, on November 10, 2024 at the age of 87. He was born on August 6, 1937, in Bloomfield NJ and spent most of his youth in Packanack Lake, Wayne, NJ. He graduated from Wayne High School and continued his education at Rutgers University where he received a B.A. Degree in Business Administration in 1959. Chip worked most of his career as a Credit Manager with manufacturers that included American Cyanamid, Tenneco Chemicals, and Huls America. He served in the US Army from 1959 until he was honorably discharged in 1965.
Chip was married on April 16, 1960 to his beloved wife, Dorothy, “Dot”. They were married 54 years until her passing on May 17, 2014. They resided in Butler, NJ until they retired and became snowbirds. Living in Four Seasons, Lakewood in the summer and Sun City Center during the winter. After a few years, they made Sun City Center their permanent residence.
He was a proud member of the United Methodist in Butler, Lakewood and Sun City Center. He enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and volunteering on various committees. He also was a devoted father, coaching Little League baseball, a leader in the Indian Guides(Navajo tribe) and loved camping with his family and friends.
Chip enjoyed singing in the Barber Shop quartet, playing golf, and reading novels. He was very proud to be a part of the Sons of the American Revolution. His great, great, great, great grandfather was Brigadier General Freegift Patchin who served in the NY Militia during the Revolutionary War. He also enjoyed doing reenactments and dressed as Freegift during the presentations. He was a member of The Retired Officers Corp in Sun City Center, and he was also treasurer of the Rutgers Alumni Association for many years.
Chip is survived by sons, Brian(Kathleen), Jeffrey(Lori) and David(Virginia). He was the proud grandfather of Brittany, Kristen, Jacklyn, Kelly, Kevin, Steven, Alex, Adriana, and great grandfather of Penelope, Catalina, Liam, Skylar, Maelyn, Ryla, and Salem. He is also survived by his older brother Thomas and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held in NJ at a future date in the spring/summer of 2025.
