Daniel Melvin Tharp's Obituary
Daniel 'Dan' Tharp, 69, of Palmetto, FL was greeted in Heaven on July 24, 2024 by his parents, William and Dorothy Tharp; his brother, David; and his first wife, Sue. Dan was born in Akron, OH, the third son of Bill and Dot, followed shortly by his twin sister, Debbie. Dan was quite the card with a great sense of humor, always the center of entertainment, and always good for a joke or two. He was always generous with time and funds for those in need. Working from a young age, he learned the HVAC trade from his Pop. When the economy in Akron tanked in the early 1980's, he moved his young family to the Bradenton, FL area and before long, started his own HVAC company, Sunshine Cooling and Heating. Dan was an honest businessman that made sure the elderly were taken care of instead of being taken advantage of. They loved him for that! He suffered a stroke in his early 50's, followed by cancer, and a heart attack. Once he was unable to work in the Florida heat, he would still lend his expertise to those who could still do the work. He spent his last years cruising around Palmetto, visiting with anyone who wanted to carry on a conversation. He surely loved his Mike's Hard beverages! His dog, Riley Clifford (the Big Red Dog), enjoyed every trip they took. His grandsons, Will and Casey, provided Dan with unlimited entertainment and in return, he provided them with his unique prospective on life. Dan lived life on his terms and always tried to put others before himself. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his son, Bradley; grandsons, William and Casey; brother, Mike; sisters, Debbie (James) Miller, Bonnie (Andy) Gehann, and Barb Finney; and aunts, uncles, and many cousins. A celebration of life will take place on a later date.
