Dewey Hubert Durden
Dewey Hubert Durden, 86, of Palmetto, FL, passed away Dec. 2, 2017. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Burnell E. Durden; and his second wife, Flossie Durden.
Born January 16, 1931, in Marianna, FL, he was a son of the late William and Bessie Durden. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Bessie Rogers, Lessie McInnis, and Cecil Durden; a son, Larry Oxendine; and granddaughter, Tonya.
Survivors include his 4 sons, Ray (Virginia), Gary (Amy), Roger (Brenda), and Ronnie (Birgitta) Oxendine; 9 grandchildren, Alysa, Erica, Linda, Larry “Wayne”, Roger, Danielle, Tim, Jamie, and Michael, 27 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren, as well as 77 nieces and nephews.
Mr. Durden was a United States Army veteran. He was the owner and operator of D&R Prime Inc. Mr. Durden had been in the asphalt business since 1962. Dewey was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Tim Durden, at 2pm on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Gillette, 3301 97th St East, Palmetto, FL 34221.
Interment will take place at 11am on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at in Skyway Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice Inc.
