Donald James Abel
November 22, 1939 - August 25, 2018
Don Abel of Bradenton, FL passed away peacefully on August 25, 2018. He was born in Woodbury, NJ. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1962. Don married Jeanette Campbell on January 8, 1961. Together, they raised two daughters and a son.
Don’s love of boating began as a young boy and progressed to a successful career in the boating industry. He was co-founder and VP of Excalibur Marine and then VP of Wellcraft Marine Sport Boat Division. He spent the remainder of his career as the Advisor to the President at Fountain Power Boats.
Don was preceded in death by his son, Donnie Abel. He is survived by his wife Jeanette, daughters, Diane Flang (Bobby) and Susan Taylor (Corbett),
9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 4pm at Skyway Memorial Gardens, Palmetto, FL
Interment with full military honors will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 10 am at Sarasota National Cemetery
