Eleanor Marie Wagner's Obituary
Eleanor M. Wagner, 86, of Palmetto, FL, passed away November 22, 2015 with her family by her side. Eleanor was born April 22, 1929, in St. Louis City, MO, to the late; Arthur C. and Esther K. (nee Jacob) Meier. She was raised in the town of Manchester, MO. After high school, she received her training to become a beautician. A career that she thouroughly enjoyed and continued to do into her 70's. She maintained her licensure even after her retirement. Eleanor met and fell in love with David Wagner, a handsome young man who served in the Marine Corps during WWII. They married in 1953 and began a wonderful life of 62 years together, filled with love, parenting, traveling and adventure. Eleanor was a nurturing mother and loving wife who took great pride in her family and their home. She and David spent 22 years in Alaska, in which their son and 2 daughters were raised. Eleanor and David extensively traveled. They visited all 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico. In 1975 they moved from Alaska to Missouri, where Dave and Eleanor resided for the next 37 years. They moved from Kissee Mills, MO (The Ozarks) to Florida in 2012. She never met a stranger and made friends everywhere she went. Eleanor loved people and enjoyed being a listener, as much as talking. She enjoyed gardening and harvesting, was an animal lover, especially for her Pekignese and Yorkie. Eleanor was a woman of faith and very active in her home church, Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Forsyth, MO and most recently at Faith Lutheran Church in Parrish, FL.
Eleanor is survived by her husband of 62 years, David W. Wagner, of Bradenton, FL, son, Stan (Sandra "Kay") Wagner, of Terra Ceia, FL, daughters; Pamela (Carl) Bingham, of AK, Janet Wagner (fiance, Ed Olmstead) of AK, grandchildren; Ariel, Olin, Zoe, Isaac and Eva, great grandchildren; Christian, Kellan, Hailey, Sydney and William. Eleanor was preceded in death by her grandson, Kenneth, her brother, Arthur Meier and her parents.
A visitation will be held November 27th, 2015 from 6:30-7:00 pm with the funeral service beginning at 7:00 pm at Faith Lutheran Church, 9608 US 301, Parrish, FL. Eleanor will be laid to rest next week at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
