Ethel Campbell Gericke's Obituary
Long time Bradenton resident, Ethel C. Gericke was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, July 3rd at the age of 98.
Born June 22, 1916 in Hickory, NC, she loved baking, sewing and gardening with her parents, Leonard and Bessie Campbell. She used these talents to bless many throughout her life. In 1942, she married Harry F. Gericke, Sr., who always knew she was the only one for him. She was a devoted wife in sickness and in health, caring for her husband the last 23 years of his life.
In 1964, Ethel settled in Bradenton with her husband and three children. For 20 years she worked for Belk Lindsey. She was a member of West Bradenton Baptist Church where she served the Lord for 50 years in the nursery, children’s ministry and regularly visiting shut-ins. Her life was a testament to Christ shown daily through her steadfast love and faith.
She is survived by a family that loved her every day. Her children: Fred Gericke (Susan) of Pinellas Park, FL, Harriet Parrott (Frank) of Raleigh, NC and Elizabeth Linzy (Paul) of Bradenton, FL, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Ethel was met in heaven by her beloved husband and three siblings: Harry Campbell, Mary Amos and Sue Benge.
A celebration of Ethel’s life took place at West Bradenton Baptist Church on Monday, July 7, at 11:00 am. She will be remembered in love by all who were blessed to know her.
