So sorry to hear about Gordon...may he rest in peace dn may you all find peace and joy in knowing he is not suffering and had a wonderful life. I often think of him captaining our Green Beans team and all his softball advice. Jim and I both enjoyed his company and his sense of humor. My thoughts are with you.

I have known Gordon for almost 30 years. He and Chris welcomed me into their home as an exchange student. Gordon was a great guy, so kind and had an awesome sense of humour. My family has also had the great fortune of getting to know Gordon as well, visiting in the US a few years ago and last year when Gordon and Chris came ‘down under’ and spent time with us in New Zealand. It was a very special time and now we realise just how precious it was.
We have some great memories of Gordon. From my time with him in Baldwinsville and our trips to DC, Martha’s Vineyard, Boston, Old Forge, etc. The basketball at the Carrier Dome was awesome. Having Gordon here in NZ last year meant he also got to meet my extended family, and they could see for themselves what a great guy he was. He got his head around the game of rugby and tucked into a few meals of lamb – he couldn’t get enough!
You will be so sadly missed Gordon. Gone far too soon. Our condolences to Chris, Bray, Keren, Mark and Bjorn.

Gordon and I were two boys from New York City who ended up in Central New York and became colleagues and friends, earning our BS degrees in Industrial Arts Education at SUNY Oswego. As the years went by I followed Gordon’s lead through a variety of professional activities and offices, including the Technology Club of Syracuse for whom we developed their outstanding teacher awards program, and in our semi-retirement, student teacher supervision for Oswego.
Gordon got me involved with Holography and together we developed a portable holographic camera for student use that the ‘experts’ said couldn’t be done. We shared our mutual passion for tennis for many years including some epic battles compared to “mad dogs and Englishmen” for playing in the 90 degree plus heat of the day.
He and Chris and our friends celebrated New Year’s Eves roleplaying our way through mystery and other games. In 1995 we had a great and memorable trip to New Orleans at Mardi Gras.
Marcia and I shared Chris and Gordon’s hospitality on Martha’s Vineyard; a special place where Gordon held his annual guys only weekends of fun and fishing. He prepared his special Beef Bourguignon for us, which was better than what I had in Paris. We traveled the world vicariously with Chris and Gordon thanks to his travel-log emails of photos and observations.
Gordon’s love of adventure, pioneering spirit, intellectual curiosity, stylish dress, and ability to make friends are just a few of the qualities that set him apart. Gordon’s camaraderie will be missed and his whimsical fish clock on our wall will be a special reminder of our friend.

Gordon was President of NYSTEA a few years before I assumed the same position. We kept in touch on Facebook due to the distance between where I live on Long Island and where Gordon was. I loved seeing photos of his creations he fashioned out if materials. He will be missed. Glad I called him my friend! Bill Youngfert
Haven't really known what to say but very much enjoy all the photos and memories people are posting- especially the family's (A)musings. I'll add my own list of things that stand out to me about the outstanding Gordon.
He and Chris were the first to reach out to us when we moved to the Village. He gifted is one of his awesome, whimsical mirrors. (And a fish clock for our wedding!)
He had a style all his own- fun socks, suspenders, coats with tails, always a tumbler full of tea...
Who else would request haikus for a birthday celebration?! Was very fun to hear what everyone wrote. We broke the rules and wrote a little song.
Was always the one to show up to book club with a list of thought-provoking questions and conversation starters, having researched the author or other pertinent tidbits.
He was interested, curious, wildly creative...
He knew about investments and planning for retirement and, despite my resistance, attempted to guide me through those complex mazes.
He and Chris have been kind of like Florida parents, and welcomed us into their wonderful family. We love you all.
Some of our fondest Vineyard memories are of days we spent with Gordon and Chris. He added an excitement to every adventure, many of them on the water. Life was richer when Gordon was in it with you. We will miss him. ~ Leslie and Hunter
Gordon was always warm and welcoming, he listened as though you were saying the most important thing in the world. He will always be an inspiration. Craig and I will always keep him in our hearts. Deepest condolences to you Chris, the love and rock in his life. Your family is in our thoughts.
