Gary Edward Barber's Obituary
Gary E. Barber, 61, of Bradenton, Florida passed away at Moffitt Cancer Center on August 10, 2015, after a brief, yet courageous battle, with Leukemia. Gary was born in Alma, Georgia on November 29, 1953 to the late; Bobby and Mildred Doreen Glosson Barber. Gary moved to Bradenton forty years ago to be near family. He soon met, fell in love with and married Zina Zeeders. Together they have raised 4 children and shared a wonderful 39 years together. Gary retired after 20 years, from the Manatee County School Board, where he worked as a bus mechanic. In his spare time, Gary enjoyed watching sports, fishing, taking cruises and above all, spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids. Countless hours were spent making memories with his son, Gary, and his son in law, Tommy, whom he considered a son and best friend. Gary was a kind man with a strong work ethic, morals and values, which he took great pride in passing onto his son, Gary and his three daughters; Daphne, Lisa and Jaime. He was a family man and loved life. Gary will be deeply missed.
Gary is survived by his wife of 39 years, Zina Barber, of Bradenton, son, Gary Barber, of Bradenton, daughters; Daphne Hope of Ocilla, GA, Lisa (Tommy) Wooten, of Bradenton, Jaime (Robert) Dixon, of Arcadia, FL, brothers; Larry (Diane) Barber, of Alma, GA, Wayne (Norma) Barber, of Alma, GA, sister, Glenda Barber, of Alma, GA, grandchildren; Tommy, Troy, Patrick, Tyler, Chandler, Robbie, Chloe, Lukas and Lexi and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held from 10-11am, Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Skyway Community Chapel, 512 61st St. East, Palmetto, Florida. The service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Skyway Memorial Gardens.
