Gary Lee Pennington's Obituary
GARY LEE PENNINGTON, 62, of Palmetto, FL passed away April 8, 2016. Gary was born in Atlanta, GA and moved to Florida in 1973. Gary began working at Maas Brothers Department Store in Sarasota in 1974, where he met and fell in love with Arlene Garver. They married in August of 1977. He became certified in culinary arts, worked 12 years as a pest control technician and eventually became the owner and operator of his own business. He enjoyed golfing, karate, the beach, listening to his rock and roll music, reading westerns, animals, watching old classics, westerns and sports on television. Gary was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He also devoted 4 years as a Tidewell Hospice Volunteer.
Gary is survived by his wife, Arlene Pennington, of Palmetto, FL, mother, June VanSickle, of Bradenton, FL, brothers; David Pennington, of Atlanta, GA, Kelly (Kim) Pennington, of Deer Island, FL, James (Denise) Pennington, of Palmetto, FL, nephews; Thomas and Justin Pennington, in laws; Susan (Robert) Byers, Gary (Lavaka) Garver and Larry Garver . Gary was preceded in death by his father, Alva Lee Pennington, sister, Joanne Pennington and brother, Van Pennington.
A casual gathering in Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 @ 11:00 am at 5916 68th Dr. E, Palmetto, FL 34221. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gary’s honor may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 4151 37th St. E, Palmetto, FL 34221
