George Joseph Darrah's Obituary
DARRAH, George Joseph 78, of Willsboro, New York and Bradenton, Florida was taken peacefully by the Lord on March 13, 2016 with his family by his side including his wife of 60 years Gean Marie (LaDuke) Darrah, Jeffery and Kathy Darrah of St. Cloud, Florida; James and Celine-Pare Darrah of Corinth, New York, Darren Darrah, his partner Mark Bonfey of Willsboro, New York and the family cats Lili and Lola of Bradenton, Florida.
George retired from the Delaware & Hudson Railroad in 1989 with 21 years of service. Gean and George moved to the warm weather of Florida that year and where George was self-employed as a paint contractor and handyman. George’s interests included model railroading, photography, learning how to use his computer (and mastered it) and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his sisters Edith (Howerton), Diane (Hopkins), and his brother John Darrah, brothers-in-law Walter (Angie) LaDuke, Jack (Nancy) LaDuke, and William (Dianne) LaDuke. George was pre-deceased by his parents Asa Sr. and Marion (Sequin) Darrah; his brothers Bob and Asa Jr. Darrah; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Roger and Rita (Furnia) LaDuke; eldest son Bryan Darrah; grandson Seth Darrah; brother-in-law Eli LaDuke; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Theresa (LaDuke) and Paul DeRusso.
At George’s request there will be no funeral. A graveside service will be held in the spring in Willsboro, New York. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tidewell Hospice of Bradenton or the American Cancer Society.
