George Gordon Englebright was born to George Warren Englebright and Elba Rivera Fernandez on August 26, 1944, in Ponce Puerto Rico. He went to be with the Lord on August 17th, 2021.
George is survived by his wife Lisa Gail, 2 brothers Richard Warren Englebright and Karl Michael Englebright. Multiple grandchildren, Alexander Valencia, Antonio Davis, Javier Medina, Giovanni Medina, Levi Mateo Englebright, Ava Joe Englebright, Elias Andres Pena, Gabriel Deliz Pena and Nathaniel Elidio Pena, and 7 great grandchildren.
George was a huge fan of baseball, he loved the game and even played in the Puerto Rican league as a pitcher, where they referred to him as “Cano” because of his light-colored hair. George also served his country and enlisted in the United States Army where he served one term. Around 1979 George, his then wife Carmen and 3 kids packed up and moved from the tropical island of Puerto Rico to Hillsboro, a suburb of Portland, Oregon.
George had a knack for connecting and talking to people, which is why he was such a successful salesperson. During his tenure at Prince Matchabelli he was recognized as one of the top salesmen in his region, (Which by the way covered the surrounding states of Oregon, sometimes traveling all the way down to Utah,,,, AND HE DID IT ALL WITH OUT GPS!!!!! AND HE MADE SURE TO LET YOU KNOW THIS!!!!
George loved history, he enjoyed watching historical documentaries and found pleasure in tracking down his family heritage and trying to dig up as much information as he could about his origin.
Showing up unannounced, sharing stories, making jokes, talking sports, giving advice on life, are just some of the things we are going to miss about George.
George loved God, his family, and friends. He was a good father and an even better Grandfather. He has left us with many memories and is loved and missed tremendously!
A visitation will be Monday August 30th from 1-2 pm with a service beginning at 2pm at Skyway memorial 5200 US highway 19 Palmetto FL 34221. Please check back for full obituary.
