Hanora B Kilcoyne's Obituary
Hanora B. Kilcoyne, 81 PALMETTO, FL - Hanora “Bridie” (O’Connell) Kilcoyne passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of James P. Kilcoyne.
Bridie was born to the late Michael and Hanora (Carey) O’Connell in London, England on June 24, 1938 and was the oldest of five. She spent an idyllic childhood in Cahirsiveen, Co. Kerry, Ireland and lived there until she emigrated to the United States in 1955. It was in Worcester, MA where Bridie met the love of her life, Jimmy, while he was home on leave from the Air Force. They were married in 1959 at Daniel O’Connell Memorial Church, Cahirsiveen and lived in England for a short time before returning to Worcester where together they raised their five children. Bridie was a dedicated mother and took pleasure volunteering at her children’s schools. She worked in the Admissions Office at Quinsigamond Community College for many years until she relocated to Pennsylvania in 1986 where she worked as a bookkeeper at Chilton Co. Bridie and Jimmy moved to Florida in 1989 where they owned and operated Main Street Café in Bradenton. Following retirement, Bridie enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and children of close friends. She was an avid crocheter and took pleasure in crafting and donating blankets to local hospitals. She also enjoyed listening to Irish music and dancing with her sisters whenever she could.
Along with her husband Jimmy of 60 years, she is survived by her son Patrick of Englewood, daughters Kathy Baillargeon of Parrish, Kerry Kilcoyne, Kelly Kilcoyne, Kim Sawdy and her husband Mickey all of Palmetto; five cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Kayla Baillargeon and Baylee, Olivia and Curry (Kayla) Sawdy; brothers Patrick O’Connell (Ethel) of Largo, FL and Michael “Hauleen” O’Connell (Noreen) of Ireland, sisters Maureen Moran (Milton) of Rochdale, MA and Geraldine DeMauro (Leonard) of Worcester, MA as well as her brother-in-law John Kilcoyne (Mary Alice) of Marlboro, MA and sister-in-law Patricia Philbin (Joseph) of Dennis, MA, many nieces, nephews and close cousins. In addition to her parents, Bridie is predeceased by her mother and father-in-law Kathleen and Patrick Kilcoyne, brother-in-law Joseph Kilcoyne, sister-in-laws Annemarie O’Malley (Thomas) and Theresa O’Rourke (Joseph).
Bridie was very proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed telling her children and grandchildren stories about life in Ireland. Her greatest joy and most precious moments were spent with her family. Bridie will be forever remembered, loved and missed.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 15, 2020 at 11 am at Skyway Memorial Funeral Home 5200 US Highway 19 N Palmetto, Florida.
