Imojean "Jean" Whitley's Obituary
Imojean "Jean" M. Whitley, 69, of Sun City Center, FL and formerly of Catawba, NC, passed away on October 2, 2015, after her struggle with ALS, with her loving husband at her side. She was married for 52 years, to the love of her life, Jerry Whitley. Together they raised 2 children. Jean worked at H&R Block and was a woman with a very strong work ethic, for many years before her retirement in 2009. She loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Jean enjoyed traveling, gardening, wine making, and spending time with family and friends.
Jean is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry, of Sun City Center, FL, daughter, Angela Whitley Green of Catawba, NC, son, Jerry Whitley, Jr., of Catawba, NC, grandchildren; Bradley Whitley, Amber Whitley, Lisa Green, Caleb Green, all of Catawba, NC, and her loving sister, Gail Mickel Robbins and her brother in law, Ronnie Robbins, and several nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; Stella (Phillips) Mickel, Bruce Mickel and her loving brother, Eddie Mickel.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Center United Methodist Church, 4945 Sheryl's Ford Rd., Catawba, NC 28609.
