Jack Covington III's Obituary
Sarasota resident Jack Covington, 74, passed away in his home on Thursday morning July 22, 2021.
Jack was born in Greensboro, NC. He was the son of Henry and Evelyn Covington. Through the years, he loved fishing and boating. As children, he and his two sisters enjoyed swimming, fishing, horseback riding and catching lightening bugs. At an early age, Jack and sister Jerry Lynne could be found dancing at the Sedgefield Country Club, while the crowd gathered around to cheer them on. He and younger sister Sandy have had a special lifelong common love and affection for all animals, especially dogs. His dog Honey was his best friend.
He was an active “front row” member of Tabernacle church and was also very active in the Recovery Community. Jack was very passionate about encouraging all people, especially those with life challenges: mentoring and helping them to move toward freedom.
Jack loved his family and friends very much. He was a beloved brother to Jerry Lynne Cockerham (Larry) and Sandy Sweeny (Ted). He was a wonderful uncle to Kim (Tom), Angel (Jef), Christy (Ken), Marc (Leah), and Brian (Mary). He also enjoyed his great nieces and nephews. Jack felt blessed and overjoyed to spend recent time with daughter Chris Boden Williams, and grandsons Jay and Charley Williams.
A Funeral Celebration Service will be held Tuesday morning, July 27th 2021, 10:30 am at Tabernacle Church in Sarasota, 4141 Desoto Rd, Sarasota, FL 34235.
All are encouraged and are welcome to join us in celebrating the life of Jack Covington.
