James "Jim" Andrew Murphy's Obituary
James A Murphy, 90, of Palmetto,FL, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022, in Bradenton, FL after a long illness. He was born Sept 9th in Syracuse, NY, to Eugene F Murphy and Susan (Leinwand) Murphy who predeceased him. Also deceased are his sisters: Elizabeth Galvin, and Eileen Carroll, and brothers: William and John Murphy.
Surviving Jim is his loving wife of 66 years Edrie (Blankman) Murphy, of Palmetto, sons: Mark (Kama) Murphy of Summerville, SC, Matthew (Marcella) of Old Fort, NC, John (Teresa) of Laguna Niguel, CA; daughter Susan Murphy of Augusta, GA; sister in law Dorothy of Fayetteville AR; grandchildren: Michael of Myrtle Beach, SC, Taylor of Augusta, GA, Kaitlyn of Culver City, CA, Jessica of Pasadena, CA, Nora Murtha (James) of Burke, VA, Julie Echevarria (George) of Charlotte, NC; great grandchildren: Connor, Adelynn, and Donovan; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Jim graduated from Canton College and served 2 years in the US Army Corp of Engineers. He retired from Robson and Woese Consulting Engineers in 1990. After travelling to Australia and New Zealand; he returned to work for Ram-Tech Engineering.
After living in Cicero and Chittenango, NY, Edrie and Jim became residents of Palmetto, Florida in 2014- No More “Snow Birds”.
Services will be held at a later date.
