I always enjoyed the many times we were invited to a family gathering, and Mr. Jim and I would get to talk about football. He always treated me like I knew what I was talking about, and respected my opinions. He also agreed that both he and I would make much better coaches (especially after a loss), than the idiots currently running the show! Boy he loved the Steelers!
I will always remember his happy smile, his love for football, and how he always made me feel welcome.

This week has been so very hard. So many memories 💕 I miss our visits the most, hours spent talking about everything, sharing the same values on what mattered most. Mr. Jim has been part of my family for as long as I can remember, and most all of those memories include laughter. There were many happy days in Parrish when he and Moppy would have everyone over for back porch sitting and spaghetti dinner. I first heard him sing in that house, and he had a great voice! I remember feeling special when my brother and I got to spend the night, fascinated by the cottage cheese he placed on his mashed potatoes and how important I felt to eat at their big dining room table.
One summer I worked at Mr. Jim’s print shop and he taught me about being clear and direct on the phone with customers. I also learned about what it was like to drive in St. Pete traffic… ha ha! He gave a great hug and was always there at every birthday and family event to celebrate me and others. I am grateful for his time and love. We love you, Mr. Jim!

Mr. Jim, better known as "Bat Man" was quite a character but more importantly a solid partner to Carolie for over 30 years. He loved his family and his puggies, Reba and Rump. Carolie introduced him to the "bat houses" and Jim took right to them. He had a tremendous small business of making and selling bat houses. He had a vast knowledge of bats and shared what he had learned with the people who bought his houses. He sold them locally as well as other states and listed them on Etsy. Building these bat houses was pure enjoyment for him and therefore, he was tagged with the name of Bat Man!
His obituary stated in lieu of flowers we could donate to a charity of our choice. I chose "Bat Conservation International" This seemed to be an organization that Jim would want to be remembered for.

Being a FL boy, I always thought it funny Jim wanted to drag Carolie and I to Dairy Queen for ice cream in the middle of an Erie snowstorm.
I also remember going deer hunting in his maroon Cadillac with I think the white top, like a couple of hunting gangsta's.

"Mr. Jim", as many of Mom's family affectionately call him, was a trooper through his last two years of cancer treatments. In thinking back over the last 37 years, he has always had his jovial smile at each family event, even through our lengthy "southern goodbyes" to each other after a get-together and when i know at times he didn't feel the best. That smile was truly put to the test these last several months, and yet he was still upbeat when we would visit,,,,,,even if he did give the nurses a run for their money when things got tough! Thanks Mr. Jim, for always being kind to our family, and for being a great partner for our Mom!
