James Walter McKenzie's Obituary
James Walter McKenzie, 78, of Bradenton, FL passed away February 8, 2026 at his residence.
James was born December 20, 1948 in Paintsville, KY, the son of Willis and Edna Ruth (Reed) McKenzie. He married Carol Ross, January 29, 1972, in Bradenton, FL.
James had worked for many years as a service technician for Verizon. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was a member of Hope Fellowship Church.
Surviving are his wife, Carol; sons, Jason McKenzie (Nishka) of Great Bend, KS, Nicholas McKenzie (Amy) of Sarasota, FL; sisters, Kathy Blair (John) of Staffordsville, KY, Janie McKenzie of Springfield, OH, Debbie Sammons (Mike) of Paintsville, KY; grandchildren, Nathan, Jordan, Victor, Tyler, Kaylah, Megan and great-grandchild Lydia.
James was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harry Dean McKenzie, Bill McKenzie and one sister, Sue Simpkins.
Funeral service has been scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Skyway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 – 11 AM Thursday at Skyway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.
Burial will be at Skyway Memorial Gardens.
Memorials have been suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
