Janis Lynn Wilson's Obituary
Janis L Wilson, 72, went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2023. Janis was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 26, 1950 to Oren Jr. and Helen Whightsel. Janis was a kind soul, but also the oldest daughter so she was known for being a little stubborn. She worked for the Social Security Administration for over 39 years and helped to set up the Altar Guilds for the First United Methodist Church of Bradenton. Janis was the founding member and creator of the Back Porch Cloggers. Janis had a green thumb and kept a generational fern alive and many orchids. When Janis wasn’t working or tending to her plants you could find her at Bealls or her greatest joy spending time with family and friends. Her soul will be watching the Manatees from Heaven. Janis was preceded in death by her parents and husband Wilbur Wilson. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved children: Justin (Stacey) Gatch, and Jessica Gatch; grandchildren: Nickson and Addie; cherished dog Lexie and new grand-puppy Munch; siblings: Connie (Mike) Hicks, Rick Whightsel, Sharon (Roy) Seleska and Oren Whightsel III; many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. A memorial service will be held on friday August 11th at 10:00am at the First United Methodist Church of Bradenton. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bradenton https://fumcb.com/about/.
