Judith "Judy" Duree Varnadore's Obituary
Judith “Judy” Duree Varnadore, 6th generation Floridian (Bradenton) passed away December 15, 2015. Judy was born in Bradenton, Florida on August 19, 1939 to the late; Bob and Ida Carter Cameron. She grew up in the Oneco area. At the age of 16, during a movie with friends at the Bradenton Drive In Theater, a young, handsome man with a large brim hat with trinkets caught her eye. That is when she was introduced to James C. Varnadore, who knew immediately that Judy would be his wife. Despite the fact that her parents weren’t keen on her dating an older man (18 yrs old), they dated for a short while, married and spent the next 61 years together. The secret to the longevity of their marriage was quite simple. James told his wife every night how much he loved her and they never went to bed angry. They stood by each other through all that came there way. James was a truck driver and often away from the home and Judy was a proud homemaker. They proudly raised a son and daughter and instilled in them some of the finest values and morals there are. Judith worked in packing houses throughout the years and later ran her own daycare service for many years. She closed the daycare only to take care of her ailing mother. Judy loved birdwatching and had numerous birdhouses, fountains and flowers to attract their beauty and song. She adored her family, cherished her grandchildren and was a loving, nurturing woman. Her presence among us will be forever missed.
Judith is survived by her beloved husband, James C. Varnadore, of Bradenton, FL, son, Martin J. “Buddy” Varnadore, of Palmetto, daughter, Anita C. Ellis, of Palmetto, sisters; Rosie Sweetsir, of Sarasota, Melba Golden, of Sarasota, Vicky Hofmann, of NY, grandchildren; Randall Varnadore and Ashley Jones, great grandchildren, Skye Adams and London Varnadore. Judith was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Rodney Cameron, Robert Cameron, Marvin Cameron and her precious granddaughter, Angie Adams.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 1-2pm at Skyway Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jason Lane officiating. She will be laid to rest at Skyway Memorial Gardens.
