Mr Leo Patrick Fossen's Obituary
After a long and rewarding life, Lee Fossen passed away on September 27th, 2016 at the age of 97. A hard-working farm boy from Bartley Nebraska, he moved to Chicago soon after high school and worked repairing small motors. In 1941, he joined the army. During WWII he was a staff sergeant at the 83rd General Hospital. After his service, he return to Chicago and married Louise, the mother of his five children. In 1955, he started his business, Lee Foss Electric. In 1969, he moved to Sarasota to retire. However, retirement was a foreign word to Lee. He soon established another shop here in Bradenton. Lee was an avid golfer and bowler. If he wasn't golfing at Sarabay, he was bowling at Rips or Sarasota Lanes. And at the sound of big band music, he was always ready to dance --and what a dancer he was!
He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. Although he lost his memory, he never lost his sense of humor. The last of his golfing buddies to leave this earth, the foursome is now complete--tee time 12:00.
He is survived by his children Marylou Rypel, Chuck Fossen, Caryl Fossen, Pat Rudolph, and Kathy Fossen, his eight grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, October 13 at 3 PM at Skyway Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Palmetto, FL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Tidewell Hospice of Bradenton.
