Margaret Shields Klages Our Beloved Centenarian Birth: November 19, 1922 Death: January 26, 2023 Margaret was born in November 19, 1922 to Leonard and Bessie Shields in Danville, Kentucky. On November 19, 2022, Margaret became a centenarian with a joyous celebration with family and friends. Margaret grew up in DeKalb, Illinois where she met and married her husband of 55 years, Frederick H. Klages. They moved to Manatee County in the late 1950’s. Margaret was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed homemaking, gardening, and many hours of companionship with her best friend Dorothy Lind for the next 50+ years. Above all was her love of time spent with her family. Margaret was a true matriarch of her family and a devoted Christian. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard & Bessie Shields, brother William Shields, and sisters Gladys Eden and Juanita Hunter. She was also preceded in death by her husband Frederick H. Klages, infant son John F. Klages, infant great grandson Zachery Williams, and daughter-in-law Amy Klages. She is survived by her sons Michael K. (Bonnie) Klages, Fred Klages, and Edward (Laurie) Klages, and daughters Bonnie Jean Klages and Linda (Dale) Spain, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. A graveside service will be Saturday January 28, 2023 at 10am at Skyway Memorial Gardens 5200 US Highway 19 Palmetto, FL 34221.
