Marjorie E. Kirby's Obituary
Marjorie Kirby, age 71, of New York City, passed away on June 8, 2019, of natural causes. Marjorie was born in Aruba, Netherland Antilles, on August 23, 1947, to Newton and Elsie Kirby. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Long Island University, New York, in 1970. Marjorie was multi-lingual, speaking English, Spanish, French and some Italian. She had a passion for Caribbean and Latin cultures and loved to travel. Marjorie lived and worked as a radio broadcaster in Puerto Rico as a young adult. She was a beautiful and eloquent person. She loved glamour, culture and the sophistication of living in Manhattan. She was smart, independent and a perfectionist. Marjorie worked for government projects to help the disadvantaged in New York in her twenties and later worked for ITT, IBM and several other businesses in her thirties. She had a generous and giving spirit and loved to donate, especially to animal charities.
Marjorie’s parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother Newton (Diann) Kirby and her nephew, Newton Kirby III. A private memorial service will be held on August 23, 2019, at Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto, Florida.
