Marjorie "Joan" Masel O'Keefe's Obituary
Marjorie “Joan” Masel O’Keefe, 84, passed away June 7, 2014. She was born September 7, 1929 in Souderton, Pennsylvania to the late Paul and Marion (Fretz) Weller. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, William G. Masel; her second husband, Robert O’Keefe, Sr.; and brother, Ray Weller.
She came to Manatee County in 1954 from Sellersville, Pennsylvania. Joan was a protestant and a leader in both 4H and the Girl Scouts. She loved cooking, sewing, traveling, gardening and working with needle point and crafts.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Wendy Crawford and her husband Edward of Parrish, Florida; Dodie Fausset and her husband Glen of Anna Maria, Florida; William G. Masel, Jr. and his wife Lynne of Parrish, Florida; Timothy S. Masel of New Bern, North Carolina; and Amy Manning and her husband Bobby of Ellenton, Florida; sister, Patricia Solo of Durham, Oregon; brothers, Paul D. Weller and his wife Lyla and Thomas A. Weller, both of Bradenton, Florida; sister-in-law, Jeanne Weller of San Diego, California; grandchildren, April, Tricia, Taylor, Emily, Kurt, Bethany, Trey, Beth, Erin, Kristin, Stephanie, Nicholas, Carly and Shelley; great-grandchildren, Conner, Joshua, Rebbekkah, Shiloh, Jude, Gavin, Lilly, Noah, Sofia, Elijah, Karis, Mariah, Jackson, Chloe, Alexander, Zachary and Sloane.
There will be a visitation on Friday, June 13th, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Skyway Memorial Funeral Home, 5200 US Highway 19 N., Palmetto, Florida. Funeral will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Skyway Memorial Gardens.
