Mary Virginia Mailloux's Obituary
Mary Virginia (Berrigan) Mailloux, 97 years old of Talladega, AL passed away peacefully in her sleep with her son Eric A. Mailloux at her side on January 31, 2024.
Mary Virginia (Berrigan) Mailloux was born on November 27, 1926 to John L. Berrigan and Mary I. (McDonald) Berrigan in Boston, MA and lived in Wilmington, MA. She had 3 brothers, Lawrence Berrigan, Kevin Berrigan, and Paul Berrigan. She
graduated from Wilmington High School in 1944. Mary Virginia (Berrigan) Mailloux was a direct descendant of Josiah Bartlet, the 2nd signer of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Mary Virginia (Berrigan) Mailloux was a devout Catholic all her life and prayed the rosary every day. She was kind, generous, loving, faithful, and all together an amazing woman, sister, aunt,
wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She lived a very full life.
A few years after she graduated high school, she met Paul Phillip Mailloux in Wilmington, MA and they were married shortly thereafter. Paul Phillip Mailloux served 3 tours during World War 2 as an Officer in the Merchant Marines assigned as a Radio
Operator. During their many years of marriage, they lived in Boston, MA, Wilmington, MA, Malden, MA, Lowell, MA, Tucson, AZ, and finally settled down in St. Petersburg, FL in 1973.
Mary Virginia (Berrigan) Mailloux and Paul Phillip Mailloux went on to have 5 children; Sharon T. Mailloux, Joyce R. (Mailloux) Wright, Marc J. Mailloux, Eric A. Mailloux, and Barry P. Mailloux.
Mary Virginia (Berrigan) Mailloux was predeceased by her brothers Lawrence Berrigan and Kevin Berrigan, her husband Paul Phillip Mailloux (April 1994) and her son Barry P. Mailloux (January 2021).

In 1992, Mary Virginia (Berrigan) Mailloux retired from a long career as an executive legal secretary for Florida Power, now known as Duke Energy and continued to work for JC Penny part time well into her 70’s. She spent her time gardening, long walks on the beach collecting seashells and floating in the Gulf of Mexico and she loved to play the piano. She built a beautiful kitchen in her home in St. Petersburg, FL and enjoyed having lunch and dinner parties often. After she sold her home in St.Petersburg, FL, she spent her remaining years traveling with her son Eric A. Mailloux as he bought houses and remodeled them
in several cities in SC, Maggie Valley, NC, Bradenton, FL and lastly in Talladega, AL.
Services will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 10 am located at 505 26th St West, Palmetto, FL 34221. Please arrive between 9:30 am – 9:45 am. In lieu of flowers, please visit her Life Tributes page:
