Pamela Bruce Holmer's Obituary
Pamela Bruce Holmer, 68, of University Park, lost her battle with cancer and passed away on February 11, 2014.
Pamela was born on May 4, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio the daughter of Leo and Eleanor (Fisher) Lorenz. On July 13, 1990 she married Ronald Holmer. Pamela and Ronald lived several years in Langhorne, Pennsylvania where she was a psychotherapist. Her passions included traveling the world, reading non-fiction, Ikebana floral arranging, and playing trivia and card games. Pamela loved cooking and frequently entertained at home. She enjoyed attending classical music concerts, ballet, independent films, plays and art museums. Pamela was known for her elegant personal style and a flair for home decorating. Friends and family will remember her best for her sharp wit, class, intelligence, candor, and sense of adventure.
Upon retirement, Pamela and Ronald traveled to Europe and purchased a home on the Costa del Sol, Spain where they spent several winters. She particularly enjoyed river cruising in Europe and her favorite cities to visit were London, Florence and Paris. After Ron’s passing in 2008, Pamela moved to Sarasota and volunteered for Jewish Family and Children’s Services. Pamela was a strong advocate for education, a passionate supporter of U.S. military veterans and generously gave to several charities. She was especially proud of her Scottish heritage and was an active member of the Family of Bruce International.
Pamela is survived by her son - Philip Ira Juels and his wife Kerrie, daughter - Jacquelyn Dawn Familant, stepdaughters - Katherine Holmer and Christine Cignac, stepson - Steven Holmer, grandsons - Jason, Alexander and Robert Juels and step granddaughters -Ginger and Traci Holmer. Also surviving Pamela are sister Diane Austin and brother Lee Lorenz, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and a host of friends.
Service to celebrate Pamela’s life will be held on Sunday, March 16th at 1:30pm at Skyway Memorial Gardens, Palmetto with Cantor Marci Vitkus officiating – skywaymemorial.com.
