Raymond George Malkemes Jr.'s Obituary
Raymond “Ray” George Malkemes, Jr., 60, of Palmetto, Florida, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at 2:30 p.m. on February 28, 2019 at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.
Ray was born in Kingston, PA, to Raymond G. Malkemes, Sr. and Mary Lou (Weigel) Painter on October 31, 1958. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Juanita; his children Natascha Bohmann (Darren) and Raymond “Rusty” George Malkemes III (Jeanna); stepdaughters Elizabeth Rivera (Sam) and Erica East; grandchildren Samuel, Sadie, and Sawyer, as well as his newest grandchild, Arlo, who he was so proud to say will carry on the family name; parents, Raymond and Patricia Malkemes, and Mary Lou Painter; siblings, William “Billy” (Lou), Sheri (Layman), Sheila (Paul), Harold (Susan), and Michelle (Ryan); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. He will be lovingly honored and remembered by many more.
Ray spent many years working in the automotive industry in finance and insurance. He enjoyed traveling all over the world, and especially loved to go cruising. He was a very proud father and husband who loved his family and always enjoyed spending time with them. He especially treasured his time in Florida, his favorite place to be. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor, as well as his willingness to always lend a hand and help others. In his final years, he lived by the motto that “anything is possible” and never gave up his fight.
A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, March 9 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Riviera Dunes Dockside Social Bar and Grill in Palmetto. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at https://donate.lls.org.
