Richard Stokley Roberts, Jr.
Palmetto, FL – Richard Stokley Roberts, Jr., 75, passed away after a long illness on March 28th, 2023. Richard was born May 6th 1947 in Richmond, Virginia. The son of R. Stokley Roberts, Sr. and Alma Grace Robertson Roberts. Richard grew up in Roanoke, VA and graduated from Cave Spring High School, participating in ROTC and was Infantry Unit Commander in United States Army. Richard continued his education at the University of Richmond and finished his Graduate Degree at Thunderbird School of Global Management in 1970.
Richard started his career at Seagram’s International and traveled the world selling Spirits. He went on to become VP and President of various companies and finishing his career with his own consulting company RSR International.
Richard is survived by his wife of 42 years Patricia Lombard Roberts, his daughters Michelle Roberts Morgan and Krista Roberts Gwyn. Son in Laws Gayden Morgan and Shawn Ryan Gwyn. His Grandsons Hunter Ryan Gwyn, Nicholas Andrew McDonough, Kyle Logan Gwyn and Rafe Morgan. He also leaves behind his constant companions Harleston and Savannah his Jack Russells.
Richard traveled the world and visited over 98 countries, however his favorite restaurant always remained the Texas Tavern in Roanoke, Virginia. He enjoyed golfing, Pina Coladas on the beach and spending time with his friends and family. Richard will be deeply missed by people all over the world but most of all by his family.
There will be a service on Friday the 14th at Skyway Memorial Gardens 5200 US Highway 19 Palmetto, FL 34221 followed by a reception hosted by Betsy Flanagan at 7234 Greystone St, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34302.
