Robert A. Hill's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Robert A. Hill announces his passing on Tuesday,
November 27, 2018, at the age of 88 years.
Robert (Bob) was adored by his loved ones and leaves behind his devoted wife of 61 years,
Mary Striegel Hill & their children, Edwin P. Hill and Theresa Christensen Hill (husband Mark) his
grandchildren: Brian Maxwell, Sarah Marie (her husband to be, Chase Allard), Alexandra and
Matthew. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Peter Hill and mother, Irene McBath Hill.
Bob was born on November 4, 1930 in Lisbon, NY and excelled at NY Technical Institute &
Colgate University earning academic honors. He served during the Korean War in the US Navy
for 4 years as the highest ranking technical support member on the aircraft carrier, USS
Monterey. Upon completion, he began a 33 year professional career at the IBM Corporation,
where he was awarded many accolades and awards in upper executive management. After 11
relocations, he and Mary settled in the Tampa Bay Area to be closer to their children and
grandchildren.
Bob spent his retirement enjoying his passion for organ music and volunteered as an organist
for the Tampa Theatre on many occasions. In addition to sharing his love, kindness, and sweet
nature with his family, he and Mary passionately cared for several sets of Shetland Sheepdogs
throughout the years; his determined devotion had no boundaries.
A private family celebration of his extraordinary life will be held at Skyway Memorial Gardens in
Palmetto, FL on Thursday, December 13th, where he will be put to rest with military honors.
