Robert L McCardle's Obituary
Robert L McCardle, 87, of Palmetto, FL, passed away November 18, 2025 at Bradenton Hospice House.
Robert was born March 9, 1938 in Hamilton, OH, the son of Lester W. and Helen (Neal) McCardle. He married Martha “Myrt” Robuck and they enjoyed 51 plus years of marriage. She preceded him in death.
Robert was a 1956 graduate of Seven Mile High School (Seven Mile, OH). He served as a Sheriff’s Deputy for Butler County, OH and then promoted to detective.
He and his wife, Myrt, moved to Florida where together they owned Cortez Motel for a short time. He then worked as a home security representative and had also written a sports column for the Bradenton Herald. After his departure from the Bradenton Herald, he became a mayoral assistant to former Mayor, Wayne Poston of Bradenton, FL. He and his wife enjoyed competitive bowling, traveling in their motor home and visiting Biloxi, MS. He was a member of the Elks and the Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his nieces, Kristina Lade (husband, William), Kimberly Stewart, Sharon Barger (husband, Keith), Debbie Nickerson, Becky Kimbrell (husband, Bobby) as well as his grandchildren, Sam Robuck (wife, Tara), Jennifer Bowling (husband, Adam), Thomas Robuck, and Kari Gruel (husband, Dwayne) and 11 great grandchildren.
Preceding in addition to his wife Myrt are his mother, Helen (Neal) Stewart and father, Lester McCardle, children, Karen (Robuck) Sullivan, Dave Robuck and Steve Robuck, brothers, Ralph Neal Gray, Lester (Les) McCardle, James Stewart, and one grandson, John DeBorde.
Cremation services will be provided by Skyway Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Private services may be announced at a later date.
