Roger Lee Potratz's Obituary
Roger “Rog” Potratz, 76, of Sun City Center, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Sun City Senior Living Center. Born July 16, 1946, in Memphis, TN, and raised in Minneapolis, MN, he was the son of the late Don Potratz and Shirley (Damon) Rosen. Rog proudly served in the US Navy as a jet airplane mechanic. After his enlistment, he continued his love of flying as a corporate pilot. Rog enjoyed airplanes, fishing, golfing, woodworking, and watching all the professional sports teams. He enjoyed the kids playing softball as well as hockey and traveling and taking road trips. He will be missed by his dog Gracie. Rog’s trademark was doing everything with precision.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce.
He will be remembered and missed by his wife of 49 years, Susan (Grade) Potratz; his children, Matt Potratz, and Angela (Nate) Barghini; his granddaughter, Emilie Baumgart; his brother, Steve Potratz; his sister, Candy (Ken) Olsen.
The family is planning memorial services both here in Florida and in Minnesota where he will be laid to rest in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Skyway Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens, Palmetto, FL.
