Russell William Hoeksema's Obituary
Russell William Hoeksema, 88, of Bradenton, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2025.
Russell was born June 17, 1937, in Grand Rapids Michigan, the oldest son of Henry and Jeanette (DeYoung) Hoeksema. “Russ” has four brothers, Ed, Hank, Walt and Alvin.
Russ married his wife, Harriet (Westveer), on 24 June 1959, in Grand Rapids Michigan.
Russ served as a Payroll and Account Manager for various companies before moving to Bradenton in 1971 and taking on an Account Manager position. He also worked part time as assistant bookkeeper for the Bradenton Christian School as well as the Bradenton Christion Reformed Church. Russ spent most of his working life in Bradenton as a self-employed Wallpaper Installer, a skill he learned from his father Henry.
He always had an interest in Ford Falcons having many and restored a 1964 Falcon Futura Convertible. He was an active member of the Ford Falcon Club of America and serving as a car judge. He and Harriet entered their Falcon in many Car Club and National Meetings winning many awards and in 1996 their car even took “First Place, Grand National” of which he was very was proud of.
Russ was an avid golfer and was a member of the Timber Creek Golf Club where he liked to visit with his “19th hole” friends.
Surviving is his wife, Harriet; son Scott (Linda) of Middleway, WV; daughter Lori Harrington of Bradenton, FL; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren all who were his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Alvin
Cremation services will be provided by Skyway Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, service will be private.
