Shirley Sophia Hartlieb's Obituary
Shirley Sophia Hartlieb, 80, passed away July 16, 2014. She was born November 12, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to the late James and Florence (Hibbert) Pappas. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughters, Gail Hartlieb and Kimberly Hayward; sister, Sophia Koustas; brother, Carl Pappas; brother-in-law, George Koustas and son-in-law, Daniel Hayward.
In Michigan, she was a bookbinder journeywoman for a publishing company. Shirley came to Manatee County in 1980 from Warren, Michigan and was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She was a worship assistant at her churches in both Michigan and Florida. She was a member of the Auxillary of the Eagles and enjoyed painting, boating and fishing.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Gunther Hartlieb; nieces, Nina Pappas and her husband Scott and their son, Kristerfer Wellman; Lisa Pappas and her husband Michael; nephew, Airs Koustas; and sister-in-law, Judy McNamara.
There will be a visitation on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 6608 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach, Florida. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM. There will also be services in Pigeon, Michigan under the direction of Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home. Interment will be in Van Hoosen Jones Stoney Creek Cemetery in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
