Stanley "Skip" Good's Obituary
Stanley Good, known as "Skip" by family and friends, of Palmetto, FL and formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away November 29, 2015. Skip was born in LaPorte City, IA on March 7, 1947, to the late; Russell and Leona Good. He was one of 8 children. Skip proudly served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War (years 1968-1970) followed by the Army Reserves. He was quick to say "Welcome Home" anytime he met a fellow Vietnam brother. Skip worked many years driving and operating cement trucks, but retired in 2013 from Pierce Manufacturing, Bradenton's local manufacturer of fire trucks. Skip met, fell in love with Lisa Plavak thirty years ago and they wed in 2003, spending the years camping and traveling. Skip made the most of his time and lived life to it's fullest, He loved nothing more than the quality time he spent with his wife, family and the golf cart rides with his dog, Bentley.
Stanley Good, "Skip," is survived by his wife, Lisa Good, of Palmetto, FL, son, Russell (Tiffany) Good, of Cedar Falls, IA, daughters; Shelley (Roger) Homewood, of Waterloo, IA, Kelley Good, of Grundy Center, IA, sisters; Pat (Jim) Barry, of Dubuque, IA, Connie Good, of Davenport, IA, Judy (Bob) Bickle, of Cherokee Village, AR, Linda Good, of Viola, IL, grandchildren, Danielle, Jessica, Austin, Devon, Alison, Justin, Russell, great grandchildren, Keenan and Kailee, mother in law, Bonnie Jones, father in law, Jim Plavak, many extended family members and numerous friends made along the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; Russell Good and Leona Stockman, and his 3 brothers; Jim Good, Richard "Butch" Good, and Willard Good.
A Celebration of Skip's Life will be held in the chapel of Skyway Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, December 7, 2015 from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Skip's name can be made to a local VFW of your choice or to the American Cancer Society.
