Thomas Bernard Plunkett's Obituary
Thomas Bernard Plunkett, 83, of Palmetto, FL, passed away June 28, 2016. He was born and raised in South Philadelphia, an Irish Catholic, on February 22, 1933, to the late; Thomas B. and Margaret McCann Plunkett. He served our country in the US ARMY during the Korean conflict. He retired as a Supervisor from GE after 40+ years of dedicated employment. Thomas enjoyed taking cruises, dancing, painting and golfing with his golf buddies. He was a former member of the Elks, Moose and the Sun Coast Mummers, a string band, where he was the Captain of the Dancers, that visited and entertained the residents of assisted living facilities. He met his wife of 23 years, Peggy Chambers on a blind date and despite both of their wishes to not become emotionally attached, they fell in love and made a wonderful life together. They moved from South New Jersey in 1996.
Tom is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" (Chambers) Plunkett, son; Thomas (Maureen) Plunkett, daughter, Debbie (Robert) Gillock, grandchildren; Tom and Jenn, John, Maryanne, Stephanie and Mario, Erika, great grandchildren; Grant, Maison, Destiny and Leylanie. and his dog Sami. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Stephanie Rengepis.
A gathering to Celebrate Thomas’ life will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 10am-11am in the Glass Chapel of Skyway Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Father James Donnelly officiating.
