Verla P. Conrad's Obituary
Verla Phyllis Conrad, 78, passed away August 18th, 2014. She was born August 24, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to the late John and Ada (Hirschy) Wagler. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Verle; granddaughter, Emma Graber; and several siblings.
She and her family came to Sarasota in 1970 from Wayland, Iowa and were members at Bethel Mennonite Church. Verla loved to sing, yodel, garden and Southern Gospel Music. She was known for her famous cinnamon rolls.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 ½ years, Merle; daughters, Robin McKenzie and her husband Dickie of Tallahassee, Florida; Melody Moon of Sarasota; Ellen Grenier and her husband Lucky of Sarasota; sons, Earles Conrad and Merlyn Conrad both of Sarasota; 28 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation on Friday, August 22nd, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and also Saturday, August 23rd, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Bethel Mennonite Church. The graveside service will begin at 10:00 AM out in the Bethel Mennonite Cemetery. Following the interment, there will be a memorial service back in the church at 11:00 AM.
