Vincent James Gatto's Obituary
Vincent James Gatto, 90, of Bradenton, FL passed away March 1, 2025 at his residence.
Vincent was born January 22, 1935 in Manhattan, NY, the son of Espedito and Concetta (Caturano) Gatto. He married his wife of 67 ½ years, Phyllis Theresa Callenda on August 18, 1957 in Brooklyn, NY.
Vincent had retired from a wonderful career as a school principal. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, from where he had served as a eucharistic minister. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knight’s of Columbus.
Vincent was an avid baseball fan and loved watching the Yankees, New York Islanders and the Brooklyn Dodgers. He also held a love for cooking, dining and traveling the world with his wife.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis; children, Vincent James Gatto, Jr and wife Deborah Ann of Bradenton, FL, and Geralynn Frances Gatto Cardinali and husband Don of Palm Coast, FL; sister, Theresa Borruso and husband Camillo of Ormond Beach, FL; brother John Espedito Gatto of Melville, NY; grandchildren, John Vincent Gatto and wife Mara of Lakewood, CO, and Meagan Elizabeth DeVun and husband David of Baton Rouge, LA; and great grandchild, Maria June DeVun.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Salvatore Gatto, sister, Concetta Petrucci and brother-in-law Frank Callenda.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Lakewood Ranch. Burial will follow services at Skyway Memorial Gardens, Palmetto.
