William Benson's Obituary
Graveside Service will be at 11 am Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Skyway Memorial Gardens Palmetto, FL for William "Bill" Ernest Benson, 64, of Terra Ceia Island. Bill went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2024. Bill was born August 29,1959 in Rockville, Maryland and moved to Florida when he was about 6 years old. Bill worked in the concrete business for many year's and developed great skill in his trade. Bill loved the outdoors, especially to be out on the boat. He loved fishing and crabbing but mullet fishing was his specialty and always participated in the Annual Mullet Smoke Off held at Terra Ceia Island. He enjoyed scuba diving, looking for old artifacts, playing poker with the guys and playing darts. He was great at smoking up some of the best ribs and mullet for family and friends. He enjoyed working with all kinds of greenery but was fond of all types of Tillandsia's- a.k.a Air plants. Having a green thumb was just part of the makeup of who Bill was! He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He was proceeded in death by his mother, Helen R. Kidder; father, James W. Benson Sr.; sister, Deborah L. Wainwright. He is survived by his brother, James W. Benson Jr.(Chris); sister, Karen L. Dietschweiler (Steve); nephews, Bryan J. Benson (Cara), Shaun W. Benson (Marissa) and Caleb W.
Perera; and four great nieces.
After Celebration of Life service, for anyone who would like to join us, we will be going to the Golden Corral in Bradenton. Location is: 5525 Cortez Rd W.
